Choreographers note:- A little retro time. Easy Beginner dance with a clear, no-fuss restart.. with a little ‘attitude’ (as they used to say).
Musical note: To coincide with their Summer 1973 tour of the USA, Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders released ”Sweet America” as a new single. The single was recorded at the famous Strawberry Studios in Stockport, England and featured Frank Renshaw on guitar along with Pauline Renshaw and Sue MacLaine on backing vocals and harmonies

Dance starts ON count 64 after the 5 note ‘tinkling’ piano..

Diag Kick. Together. Diag Kick. 2x Bwd. 1/4 Side. Cross Touch. Side (9:00)
1 – 2Kick right diagonally forward left. Step right next to left.

3 – 4Kick left diagonally forward right. Step backward onto left.

5 – 6Step backward onto right. Turn ¼ left (9) & step left to left side

7 – 8Cross touch right over left. Step right to right side.

Behind. 1/4 Fwd. Step-LockStep. Rock. Recover. Walk Bwd: R-L (12.00)
9 – 10Step left behind right. Turn ¼ right (12) & step forward onto right

11 & 12Step forward onto left, lock right behind left, step forward onto left.

13 – 14Rock forward onto right. Recover onto left.

15 – 16Step backward onto right. Step backward onto left.

Behind. Side. Diag (Flick) Kick-Step. Cross. Side. Diag (Flick) Kick-Step (12:00)
17 – 18with a slight sweep - Step right behind left. Step left to left side

19 – 20turning body diagonally right – (Flick) Kick right diagonally right. Step down onto right.

21 – 22Cross left over right. Step right to right side.

23 – 24turning body diagonally left – (Flick) Kick left diagonally left. Step down onto left

RESTART: Wall 8 (facing 9.00)
- The wall is easy to recognise, as they sing ‘America’ then go into a short guitar solo.

Cross. Bwd 2x Diag Back-Touch. 1/4 Side. Together (3:00)
25 – 26Cross right over left. Step backward onto left.

27 – 28Step right diagonally back right. Touch left next to right..

29 – 30Step left diagonally back left. Touch right next to left.

31 – 32Turn ¼ right (3) & step right to right side. Step left next to right.

Optional On counts 28,30 & 32 either clap hands or click fingers.
